When Shadi embarks on a secret adventure, he accidentally drags his proud Palestinian family into a trap where they only have two choices: either collaborate with the Israeli occupation, or be shamed and humiliated by their own community. The filmmaker highlights his parents’ struggle to overcome this unexpected and painful challenge. This work of fiction is based on a true story.

Dima Hamdan is an award-winning Palestinian filmmaker and journalist based in Berlin. She spent 12 years working with the BBC World Service, with reporting assignments in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine. As a self-taught filmmaker, she directed several short films in the UK, Jordan, Germany and Palestine.
Her previous short film, The Bomb (2019), had a successful world festival tour, winning the “Best Female Director” award at the Ayodhya Film Festival in India, and receiving a Special Mention at the Festival del Cinema dei Diritti Umani in Naples. She is currently working on her debut feature film, Amnesia, which will be shot in Palestine.
