Delighted to introduce the twentieth edition of Al Ard Film Festival, an event proudly organized by volunteers of Associazione Amicizia Sardegna Palestina since 2002. Al Ard Film Festival aims to showcase Palestinian and Arab culture through a collection of works that offer alternative perspectives and viewpoints compared to those conveyed by mainstream Western media.

At Al Ard Film Festival, we like to think of ourselves as more than just an event featuring a screen and some seats; we identify as an event in which everyone can engage politically with realities that are very close and, in many ways, similar to those of Sardinia. The festival’s mission is to tell the stories of Palestine and the Arab world, presenting a multitude of authentic perspectives from Arab and international filmmakers. These stories, often overlooked or distorted in Western media, find their space and voice at Al Ard Film Festival.

The festival goes beyond just film screenings, providing an immersive experience through Q&A sessions, seminars, conferences, art exhibitions, musical events, and book presentations. Its growth, from a modest local event in 2002 to an international festival, speaks to the enthusiasm and dedication of the Association’s volunteers and, most importantly, its devoted audience, both local and international.

For this twentieth edition, we’re working on an even more complex event, with enhanced awards and greater opportunities for participants, especially for winning films. We’re building an entirely fresh international Jury and, above all, restructuring the event to provide additional valuable space for artists and their interaction with the audience.

If you’re a filmmaker with works that touch upon Palestine and the Arab world, you can participate in the twentieth edition of Al Ard Film Festival: a unique event that builds cultural bridges, sparks discussions, and promotes political engagement.

Submissions are open on our official website from August 3, 2023, to November 5, 2023. Don’t miss the chance to be part of one of Europe’s most popular festivals about Palestine and the Arab world. Submit your film now!
