Her unwavering commitment to documenting the truth in the face of war has moved audiences worldwide and earned her prestigious recognition, including the International Press Freedom Award 2024 (CPJ).
A mother of a two-year-old girl, she lost her husband, filmmaker and journalist Roshdi Sarraj, during the genocide in Gaza. Her story is emblematic of the plight of Palestinian women journalists reporting from Gaza who have endured the unthinkable and continue to report the news that demands to be told.
