In the heart of Gaza’s darkest hours, a team of filmmakers documented the unfolding tragedy inside Palestine’s oldest and largest hospital: Al-Shifa. Beginning in October 2023, the film captures firsthand testimonies from frontline doctors, including Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah and Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya, as they confront relentless Israeli assaults on the hospital compound. From airstrikes in November, forced evacuations of medical staff, to the full-scale military raid in March 2024 aimed at crippling the facility, the film bears witness to a systematic targeting of healthcare in “wartime”. Yet amid the devastation, the story does not end. In September 2024, the crew returns to document a moment of resilience: the reopening of the emergency department, run by those who refused to surrender.
