What We
Do
Al Ard Film Festival is a cultural landmark dedicated to shedding light on Palestine and the Arab world through the power of cinema. By showcasing stories, perspectives, and voices often overlooked, the festival creates space for deeper understanding, appreciation, and dialogue about these regions, their struggles, and their rich cultural identities.
Born in Cagliari in 2002, the festival has grown from a grassroots initiative into one of the most significant international events on Arab cinema in Southern Europe. Despite its international reach, Al Ard Film Festival remains deeply rooted in Sardinia, where it has become a beloved annual event for the local community and a cultural bridge connecting the island with the wider world.
What sets Al Ard Film Festival apart is its entirely volunteer-driven spirit. Organized by the Association Amicizia Sardegna Palestina, it thrives on passion, dedication, and the conviction that cinema can be a powerful tool in supporting struggles for dignity, justice, and self-determination.
At its heart, Al Ard Film Festival is about connection—between cultures, between communities, and between stories and the people who experience them. It is this mission that continues to guide and inspire the festival, year after year.
